FINISHING TOUCHES | DESENIO

It has been a whole week since I got back from Glastonbury. A week since I traded my blow-up lilo for a bed. A week since I washed with actual water. A week since I managed to get the pink out of my hair. And a week since I stopped drinking vodka for breakfast (you'd hope, anyway).

It is safe to say that I am definitely enjoying the comfort of my own home more than ever, and I have certainly been getting more and more into interior design lately as a result. Not just creating the odd "interior" board on Pinterest - but I am starting to pull together my own style and understanding of how I want my environment to look and feel. Armed with some new inspiration and an extended trip to IKEA under my belt, I am starting to create my own little haven.

As it is abundantly clear, I am a lover of all things neutral and simplistic when it comes to interior, which is odd, considering I wear SO much black day-to-day. I definitely don't want my space to look clinical, and this is always a risk when it comes to having a simplistic and all-white themed style. That's why I like to have certain feature objects to tie the room together and make it look more lived in. With this in mind, prints have always been on my radar - and I couldn't wait to bring my new Desenio frames into the mix!

I am that happy with my posters from Desenio that I actually ordered some for my sisters room, too. So she lives in Milan at the moment but of course still has a room at the family home, and it just so happens to mirror mine, so I couldn't not get matching for her, could I?!

I want to walk you through the posters in the two rooms separately, as they both have an extremely different theme and reasoning behind them. OK, lets start with mine;

For my room, I was always going to opt for a classic quote, as I am a total sucker for a little bit of inspiration. I hadn't actually read this one before and I completely connected with it when I did. I think it is so true for life, and definitely a mantra I want to follow moving forward. The flaky wall print was a bit of a wild card for me as I was unsure to start with...but it has totally won me over! I have been introducing subtle pink tones into my room in the form of a fur rug (that I am actually using as a throw) and this really helps to tie that in. I haven't seen a print like it so it feels completely unique. It also really works to compliment the typography next to it. Final print? I have been after a Monstera plant for my seagrass basket for AGES and have just never got round to the purchase, so I thought this would be a happy alternative! It helps to bring freshness into the room and again - subtle but effective as far as I am concerned. For those of you who can't quite make out the minuscule text, the quote reads:

"Balance is the key in everything you do. Dance all night long and practice yoga the next day. Drink wine but do not forget your green juice. Eat chocolate when your heart wants it and kale salad when your body needs it. Wear high heels on Saturday and walk barefoot on Sunday. Live high and low. Move and stay still. Embrace all sides of who you are. Be brave, bold spontaneous and loud and let that complement your abilities to find silence, patience, modesty and peace. Aim for balance. Make your own rules and follow your own path and do not let anybody tell you how to live according to theirs."
- Rachel Brathen

So I really do think that I was more excited for my sister's posters than my own. I want to dedicate this whole post to my sister actually, as it's not something that I have done, or been able to do in the right way, before...

 There was a clear choice when I was picking hers and when I saw them I just knew they were PERFECT. My sister (aka best friend and human in the whole entire world) has recently moved out to Milan where she is based as an airline pilot, hence the prints being extremely fitting. To be fair, the last thing she probably wants after coming home from a day at work is to look at the same view as she has that day/night, which is sometimes what I think with regards to a computer screen, but then again, how can you ever tire of a view like that?! I wanted to give her these prints to remind her of this point in her life and the journey she is on, just like the matching tattoos we have from when we were separated during her stint in Australia. Probably pretty biased here, but I am so overwhelmingly proud of her and everything she has achieved. She honestly is the brightest star. My genuine hope is that one day we can move to an exotic place together - and yes, I'd get a print framed of that, too.

By no means is this the end of my frame obsession and I can only see this collection growing moving forward. Lord only knows what will happen when I eventually get my own home and have multiple rooms to fill! If you want to fill your life with beautiful prints like these, you can use IVORYTOWER and get 25% off all posters except "handpicked". This code will be valid between 4th-6th July. Enjoy!
