I think only I could embrace the first weekend of dry Jan with a weekend away complete with a full day of wine tasting. The fact that it was a Christmas present makes it totally plausible, right?
Our day of wine tasting was centred around "World of Wines" which was a whole world of fun (no pun intended...ok maybe a little pun intended) but it was really good to relate back to my other main love - travelling! We decided to make a weekend of it by booking into one of my favourite hotels ever. Now, the last time I stayed in this hotel it was under renovation and it was a teency bit eery, but it is now finished and I am more obsessed than ever.
First things first - the bar. It was SUCH a great vibe for us to have a couple of drinks in before we headed out to dinner. Any place that has a conservatory style "winter garden" gets full marks from me. Plus I am all over some indoor foliage while I sip my G&T. Not only did The Refuge Bar have all of these things but it also had a separate games area. Who doesnt want to indulge in some healthy competitive gaming before dinner? We're talking table football, snooker, cinema style projectors - the works!
Ok let's talk location. Manchester is by far one of my favourite cities, and the fact that it is on my doorstep makes it all the more fun. The Principal Hotel is in walking distance to all major bars/restaurants (ok fine, shops too), it's definitely city centre accomodation at its best.
If you're visiting Manchester and looking for a good place to stay, I would definitely recommend checking out the Principal. I know I can't wait to be back there wrapped up in my robe again soon.
