Barcelona | Coffee and Cocktails

I recently had the best weekend city break in Barcelona. One of my best friends is out there working at the moment and the temptation to book a last minute flight finally got the better of me. So within a matter of days I was packed and sat in Liverpool airport at 5am ready to board and embark on a coffee and cocktail filled weekend!

Its no secret that I have a love for coffee...and an even bigger love for photographing it. So in true best friend style, the first port of call when I got off the plane was the prettiest coffee shop in Placa Reial. The old square that the coffee shop was located in was amazing, and it was the perfect setting for a catch up! What we didn't realise until my last night, was that downstairs had the most incredible underground bar, which was filled with fairy lights and even had its own retro photo booth! The weather was hot for the entirety of the weekend, which meant we were able to fully commit to lounging by pools and increasing our cocktail and nacho consumption. I think one of my absolute favourite places I visited in that weekend had to be Surf House, which was a little cafe right on the beach front. Not only was the general vibe relaxed but the food was also amazing...and we soon learnt that it was the perfect spot for a hangover. In terms of touristy sightseeing stuff, the main highlight was Gaudi's Park Guell, which I was overwhelmed by the detail that went into its creation. There are definitely other famous sights that I want to explore in Barcelona...which only means I have an excuse to go back soon.

I ended my weekend at Gran Hotel Sky Bar watching the sunset with a glass of Prosecco with a view over Barcelona. The rooftop bar also had an infinity pool - which I obviously steered clear of, as a combination of both alcohol and heels hasn't done me too many favours in the past with regards to standing upright! (I absolutely fell off my chair ten minutes into being there...the thought was there though).
Out of all the places I have visited around the world, Barcelona is definitely up there with one of my favourites. Not only because it reunited me with my best friend, but because as I found out, no matter what street you went down - it was full of character, pretty balconies...and coffee shops.

Mellow-yellow | Weekend

Finally the weekend is here. So far I have had a lovely family meal as my sister has come home for the week - which is a rare occurrence as she is so busy! Apart from that though, my weekend plan is going to involve copious amounts of wine, spa treatments (post to follow) and catching up with my friends. This yellow bag is my baby at the moment because I often do wear a lot of black, it helps to brighten up my outfit. But also (as my best friend kindly pointed out) it seems to resemble a Polly Pocket bag...which is of course a win win situation!

Just a quick post this morning - as my current priority is to find a corkscrew...Happy Saturday!

Work/French/Golfing vibes

This is funny because a while back I said I was going to cut back on my Zara outfit posts. And this is totally a Zara outfit post. And then like two posts after that, I also said I was going to post more. And I didn't. And it also isn't really that funny. BUT it is difficult to post about all the things I have been doing, when those things generally just involve me working or taking a nap.

It was the first day of autumn the other day though - which makes me ridiculously overexcited! I absolutely love all the things that come with this time of year and I am looking forward to dressing for the colder weather. One thing that I am looking to do over the next few weeks is rock climb. This has absolutely nothing to do with it being autumn - I just have a really big urge to go and scale a climbing wall. So hopefully, if I manage to rope (no pun intended) some friends into coming with me, and manage to survive the ordeal - there should be a climbing post coming soon! Thinking about Zara sell safety helmets????

A Graduate at last

I cant believe that my three years at University has come to an end. People always say to you that time will fly and before you know it you will be graduating...this couldn't be more true.

Moving to Birmingham was one of the best decisions I ever made, as it enabled me to study a subject I am passionate about and also meet some incredible people. Part of me still thinks that I have my little house (and Ivory Tower - of course) in Birmingham. I feel like at some point I will have to get back into my car, do the usual drive back down to Selly Oak, and haul my suitcase up to the top floor for the 100th time. The other part of me (namely the part that is woken at 7am by my alarm) has hit the realisation that I am no longer a student and that I now have a job. Having my graduation ceremony made me really thankful for my experience and also the support I got from my family throughout my time at University (and by support...I mean wine and food). There are a few things that I would perhaps do differently - but hindsight is a wonderful thing, and three years is a long time in terms of growing up and learning things about yourself. Although grades and education is the end goal, I think the whole experience provides a learning curve in other equally important areas, such as self confidence and becoming a better judge of character.

My favourite thing about University was the spontaneity. I don't know if I will again have the opportunity to be in a house full of my friends, where at 12am we decide we need our fourth night out in a row, or decide at 2am that we need to order waffles and crepes and have film club or we will get "separation anxiety". For this last reason I think its only fair to give credit where credit is due - so thank you Pizza Land and Cheeky Joe's for fuelling our many all-nighters.

In terms of outift choice - cap and gown rented to me very kindly by Birmingham City University.

Bricks and rips

Well it's been a while! I seem to have been so busy lately (not actually sure what doing - but it seems I have been) so my blog has felt a little neglected! I know that I also made a promise in my last post that I would steer clear from any more Zara posts for the time being...whoops. I normally hate shopping for jeans but these are probably the most perfect pair I have found. They are so comfortable and I love the rips (and yes - they are from Zara). I am going to be really busy these next few weeks as I have quite a lot going on - including Creamfields and my graduation ceremony. I am SO excited though as my sister gets back from New Zealand where she has been since March - so there should be a lot to blog about with everything that we have planned!

A hangover hat

This weekend has been so much fun because I have finally been reunited with two of my best friends who are home (albeit - temporarily) from their travels in Australia! So after celebrating last night I have finally surfaced from my hangover pit and managed to get myself outside to enjoy some of the sunshine today! I know there's a little bit of a theme here (massive understatement) but again this dress is from the Zara sale, and now I have banned myself from there for at least two months. Nothing like a hat to help hide your hangover hair!

Sunshine smiles

Another busy week this week, which was topped off nicely with a stroll through my local park with my mum before a little shopping trip. I can't deny that this outfit is yet again head to toe from Zara (minus the shoes and sunglasses) BUT they were all sale items so its justified...honest. I am totally obsessed with these pastel pink palazzo trousers and have now definitely got the bug as I am trying to find more! I maybe even love them a little bit more than my dungarees - which is a sentence I never thought that I would say. The sheer material does mean that the trousers are not too heavy which is perfect in the sunshine, and the added  thigh splits are discrete enough but do still reveal a little bit of leg when you walk!

Anyway, I am going on a little business trip tomorrow, so naturally I am stalling until I absolutely have to pack...
